This is not a lesson plan, but rather a simple idea to teach the proper spelling of the word “rhythm.”

First point out that “rhythm” has 2 syllables and that “h” lives right in the middle of each syllable.

Then teach the chant:

    R-H-Y ee q
    T-H-M ee q
    That’s how we spell ee ee
    Rhy-thm! q q

The rhythm of the chant is this (e=eighth note, q=quarter note):

Pretty simple, huh? Now there is no excuse for NOT spelling it correctly!
