Title – The Dynamic William Tell

By – Tracy Wayne

Subject – Music

Grade Level – 1-5

Learner Outcome: The students will identify piano and forte dynamics while listening to music.

Materials: note card and crayon or marker, recording of the William Tell Overture by Rossini

Procedure: Students will write a “p” on one side of the card and an “f” on the other for piano and forte respectively.

Listen to the William Tell Overture holding up the card and flipping it over when the dynamics change. The dynamics are terraced and change quite frequently. Note: This music is so engaging that the students will also be bouncing the cards to the beat.
