Title - How to Count Eighth Notes

Primary Subject - Music
Grade Level - 6th Grade
Objective: Teach 6th Grade band students how to count 8th notes.
Materials: Instruments, Music, Pencils
Lesson: 8th note subdivision (Ex.: 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & )
Ask students to speak and clap various eighth note rhythms. Have students identify various eighth note rhythms on the chalkboard. Have students play on their instruments rhythms performed by director. Finally, have students count & perform rhythm in the band method book.
Assessment: All students will count and perform a rhythmic exercise with 100% accuracy.
