Title - Baa, Baa, Black Sheep/instruments
By - Rosemary Shaw
Primary Subject - Music
Secondary Subjects -
Grade Level - K-1st

This is a great game for kindergarteners/grade 1. Seat children in a circle and learn the song "Baa Baa Black Sheep". Once it is learned, add a pastiche rhythm of three-quarters and a rest on each line. (Optional step here is to give sticks to each child and repeat with instruments.) To play the game, children sing the song and continue to pastiche while the teacher walks around the inner circle, pointing to three children on "master/dame/little boy". Those children stand when they are chosen and after the song they go to the inner circle and pick up one of the instruments displayed there and play along while the game continues.
