Title - Winter Shape Game
By - Debbie Haren
Primary Subject - Math
Secondary Subjects -
Grade Level - Preschool
Materials:
poster board 12"x21".
holiday symbols or cookie cutters
scissors
felt
baggie or box
Contact paper

Game:
This activity will help children notice likenesses and differences in objects. Place holiday symbols on the poster board. Trace them. Cover the poster board with contact paper. Cut out a felt symbol to match each outline on the poster board. Let the children match the felt cut out with the poster board outline. Keep the poster board and the pieces together in a box or in a large plastic baggie.

Extensions:

The poster board outlines could also be cut out and used as the pieces instead of felt pieces. Then it works more like a puzzle that the children have to put back together.
