Title – Traveling in Time Zones

By – Ann Henderson

Primary Subject – Math

Secondary Subjects – Math

Grade Level – 9th and 10th

Have students plan an airplane trip or vacation. The trip should have at least five destinations and should cross at least two time zones with each destination. The students will start with “Time of departure” and end each destination with a “Time of arrival”. The students will also have to figure flight time between each destination.

For extra points, let the students figure costs of airplane tickets, hotels, taxi’s to and from airport, cost of eating out as well as sightseeing, and any incidentals they might purchase on the trip.
