Title - Two-Digit Multiplication Cha-Cha

Primary Subject - Math
Secondary Subjects - Music
Grade Level - 4-5
Motivation: The teacher will (TTW) wear a sombrero in front of the classroom.
Lesson Objectives:
TSW dance to the steps of the multiplication process
TSW calculate the products of two-digit multiplication
TSW listen to the directions given by the teacher and other students when calculating multiplication problems.
Materials: Sombrero, rainstick, and large pieces of construction paper.
NEW INFORMATION
1. TTW begin with the motivation listed above. The teacher ask the students if they know how to cha-cha.
2. TTW demonstrate to the students how to cha-cha.
GUIDED PRACTICE
3. TSW follow the teacher's steps and dance to the cha-cha listening to Spanish music.
4. TSW copy a multiplication problem from the blackboard on a large piece of construction paper and place it on the floor.
MODEL
5. TTW explain that the cha-cha is very similar to the steps taken in a multiplication problem. TTW model how to dance the cha-cha using their multiplication problems on their piece of paper.
TEST
6. TS and TT will dance to Spanish music while cha-chaing on their multiplication problems.
ADDITIONAL PRACTICE
7. TTW select four students to be teachers and give them stations. The remaining students will count off by fours and be divided into those four groups.
8. Each station will be assigned certain homework problems to practice in their station. The students will be given five minutes in each station, the rainstick will sound when the students are to switch stations.
9. After the time allotted TTW ask the students to sit in their seats and will review any questions or problems.
CLOSURE
10. At the end of the lesson the students will be asked what they learned from the lesson.
11. TTW review new material and assign homework.
