Title – Twelve Days of Math (a Christmas song) By – Valerie Drane Primary Subject – Math Secondary Subjects – Music Grade Level – 2 This is a fun way to teach ordinal numbers to students as well as showing all the lessons you have learned to this point in the year. The song can be adapted to your subject areas. The one I made up included nearly every part of math we have learned up to this point of the year. It is the Twelve days of Christmas with a few changes, I printed it out on my computer and made copies for every student in my class. I also put the numbers in a different color than the regular text to highlight it more. On the first day of Christmas my teacher gave to me a test on fact families. On the second day of Christmas my teacher gave to me 2 ways to skip count and a test on fact families On the third day of Christmas my teacher gave to me 3 subtraction questions, two ways to skip count and a test on fact families, etc. 4th day — 4 adding doubles My class really enjoyed “Christmas Caroling” with this sing in other classrooms.
