Title - Counting
By - Barbara Quinn
Subject - Math
Grade Level - K-1

Using your paint program on your computer have students to draw 4 circles, 3 rectangles, 6 squares. Fill in with different colors. Ask how many red circles do you have. How many blue ones and so on.... do the same with rectangles, and squares. With first graders you may have them to write a simple equation such as 3 circles + 4 squares= 7 shapes. This activity takes about 25 to thirty minutes depending on how many questions you want to ask. Students have fun drawing and thinking about how many they want to draw. You may use this with older students and larger numbers.
Have fun!!
