Title - Walking Through the Alphabet

This is a great way to combine movement while reinforcing letter recognition. Place giant letters on the classroom or gym floor, spreading them out far apart, and out of sequence. Have a student walk slowly through the alphabet. When you want them to stop, yell "freeze". The student picks up the letter closest to them. They should be able to tell you the letter, and one word that begins with that letter. You can also play this with music and play musical letters rather than musical chairs. Another great lesson from AppleTree Educational Services!
