V. CONCEPTS

The theme of Mufaro's daughters is that beauty comes from within.

VI. PROCEDURES

A. Introduction and Motivation

The teacher will introduce the story asking the students where Africa is on the map.

B. Body

The teacher will introduce the concept of jealous by brainstorming as a class. The students will come up to the chalkboard and write their thoughts graffiti style.

The class will read the story together out. The teacher will ask different literal and inferential questions during the reading of the text.

C. Closure

Using a Venn diagram, the students will compare and contrast Manyara and Nyasha as a class. Each group will be given a piece of oak tag with a characteristic or statement about their adventure through the woods on it. The students must decide which category of the Venn diagram it belongs in.

A. Student Assessment

1. The students' will be informally assessed through teacher observation during the activity.
