I come home in the afternoon.
My mother says, "You better do your homework soon."
Oh, Mother dear, I want to play in the sun.

Chorus:
'Cause kids they wanna have fun.
Oh, kids just wanna have fun.

It's getting dark my parents turn the bed spread.
My father says, When you gonna get in your bed?"
Oh, Daddy dear, my day's never done.

Chorus:
'Cause kids they wanna have fun.
Oh, kids just wanna have fun.

Bridge:
That's all they really want is some fun.
When the school day is done.
Oh, kids they wanna have fun.
Oh, kids just wanna have fun.

Some teachers on a beautiful day,
Keep us in the classroom so that we can't play.
Oh, Teacher dear, we want to play in the sun.

Chorus:
'Cause kids they wanna have fun.
Oh, kids just wanna have fun.
