Green Eggs and Ham Contractions

Printable Version for your convenience!

Title - Green Eggs and Ham Contractions
By - Emily Warren
Primary Subject - Language Arts
Grade Level - 2-3

Procedure:
After my students learn about contractions, I read the Dr. Seuss story Green Eggs and Ham and they see how many contractions they can make from the words that are used in the story. Once they find a word, if they hear it again they put a tally mark by the word so they can keep up with how many times it is used in the story. Then they add up their tally marks and compare them with other student's in the class. I also make sure they have them written down correctly. My students love this activity! It is a lot of fun!
Example:
    Sam I am. - I am = I'm
