Academic Objectives:

Lesson Introduction:
We talk about the weather everyday, but we are going to start looking at the weather in a more exciting way! All of my students love to use computers and this will allow them to check the weather at school or at home.
Instructional Process:
Activity #1: We will first discuss how to use the internet and the computer correctly.
Notes: Each student will be given a turn to try out the mouse on the computer to navigate the page.

Activity #2: I will then show them how to type in the web address weather.com, so we can see what the weather is.
Notes: This will be done by using an AVER Key, so that all students can see on the TV what I am doing.

Activity #3: We will then look at the day's forecast to see what the weather is and will be for the rest of the day. We will continue this for 5 days.
Notes: We will look at the website to predict what the weather will be, then we will read what the weatherman says about the day's weather to see how close we were.

Activity #4: After we finish looking at the weather, we will then graph what weather.com stated the weather would be like. We will also chart whether weather.com predicted the weather correctly or not.
Notes: This will be a class chart done on chart paper and hung on the board each day for the students to see and fill in.

Activity #5: I will then show the students other ways to use the internet to do research. I will show them different websites they can go to and find information about the weather.
    Notes: yahooligans.com, google.com, etc.

Homework or extension activity:
Since many of my students do not have Internet at home, most of the assignments will be completed in class. Third nine weeks we will begin going to the computer lab, so I will have some things for the students to look up on the computer while in the computer lab class. Later on in the year, we will be researching the planets during our space unit, so they will be allowed to use the computers in the classroom and computer lab to look up the information on the Internet.
Assessment/Reflection:
There will be no formal assessment taken on this assignment. I will observe each student as they use the computer and the Internet to see if each student is using the computer correctly. I will also ask them questions to make sure they understand as we go through the assignment.
Targeted Practices (Check and make notes as desired.)
    1 Assessment
    0 Cooperative Learning
1 Learning Styles: Many of my students are kinesthetic learners, so allowing them to use the computer themselves will really help.
    0 Multiple Intelligences
    1 Technology/Internet
0 Cross Curricula Lesson (Subjects: Science, Computers & Internet)
