Title - "EA" Sounds
By - Emily Pearson
Primary Subject - Language Arts
Grade Level - 1-2

Content:
We will first discuss the importance of the different sounds "ea" makes. The students will be broken up into workshops where they will get to see many words in the "ea" sounds. Here the students will go over the words and discovery how many different sounds and words these vowels are in.
Benchmarks:
Early Elementary students will learn to demonstrate phonetic awareness by the wide range of sound manipulation competencies including sound blending and deletion. For example, the students can compare "bear" to "beaver".
Learning Resources and Materials:
  • Kidspiration 3 software
  • Pencil
  • Worksheet
Development of Lesson:

    Introduction:
First, we will review all the words given to the students on their worksheets. The students will get the opportunity to ask any questions before they start their workshops.

    Methods/Procedures:
The students will get into workshops and share one computer.

Together they will match the object to the matching sounds using Kidspiration.

On their worksheets, they will get to write down all the words that they heard on Kidspiration.

The students will get an understanding on how to blend together certain vowels.

    Accommodations/Adaptations:
I would make sure that we had a little extra help in the room, incase the students had any trouble with using Kidspiration. I would make sure to group students carefully so that all the students with needs would be separated. The more advanced students would give those with needs a little boost.

    Assessment/Evaluation:
After the students learned from the Kidspiration, they would then go back to their seats to fill out their worksheets. I would get the chance to go around and make sure all the students filled them out correctly and to see if there was any questions.

    Closure:
As a class, we would go over the assignment. All the students would get a chance to tell me what they learned and how the vowels "ea" blend together. I would write on the bored all the words the students came up with as a class.
