Unit/Lesson Plan Summary

Students will listen to a short story “I Like Myself”. Students will express ideas orally and with pictures. These ideas will be used to create a slide show using Kid Pix (software program). Their self-portrait should highlight what makes them unique. Each portrait will also have a brief written summary. All portraits will be compiled to form a class book.

Student Objectives

The student will: express ideas orally and written, describe attributes, and use computer software to create a self portrait.

Targeted State Curriculum

Competency Goal 3 — The learner will make connections through the use of oral, written language, and media technology.

Procedures

Listen to story. Brainstorm ideas about self attributes on idea Web. Create self-portrait using Kid Pix. Create written summary to Describe self-portrait.
