Title - Adjectives In Movie Reviews
By - Jane Lee
Primary Subject - Language Arts
Secondary Subjects - Language Arts
Grade Level - 3 - 6
Adjectives

Materials : Review of a movie cut from a newspaper; the movie itself.

1. Delete the adjectives in the movie review and photocopy enough copies for each student.
2. Write the deleted adjectives on the board and ask students to match them to the blanks in their copy of the review. Pair work is best.
3. Answers are discussed.
4. Teacher explains that adjectives are "detail words" that add more information to nouns.
5. Teacher shows a scene from the movie (about 5 - 10 minutes worth) and asks students to describe what they have just seen using adjectives. For a more systematic approach, teacher might want to categorize the description according to scenery, dressing, manner of speaking, behavior, etc.

P/S: I recently used the movie "Shrek" for this lesson.
