TITLE: Search for and learn our Technology Terms

OVERVIEW: For the block class, we will be searching for technology terms on the internet.

PURPOSE: Practice using the internet to gather and analyze information on the internet and learn technology vocabulary.

OBJECTIVES: To use the internet to search for the specific technology terms that are included in the curriculum.

REQUIRED MATERIALS: Pencil, list of terms, computer with internet access, two different web sites for them to compare their findings.

ANTICIPATORY SET (Lead-In): First we will review the internet usage policy. We will briefly go over the terms we have to find and the reason for knowing the terms.

ACTIVITIES AND PROCEDURES:

Each student will be given a list of computer terms and two internet addresses to look the terms up at. They will be given 10 terms. I will divide the class up into two sections. Each section will have 5 different terms. They will then find the definition of the terms at both locations and write them both down, citing the web address for both.

When that is complete, we will then compare the two definitions and determine if they are both accurate. Then we will decide if the web sites are trustworthy sites.

CLOSURE: We will talk about the terms and determine how they relate to us either at school, work, or in the community.
