Title – Creating a Personal Story on Photo Story 3

Learning Objectives:
The student will:

Observe the steps needed to create a powerful presentation using Photo Story 3.

Utilize personal images as well as images obtained online to create their personal story.

Identify and use the different ways to enrich their presentation like:

Inserting Text

Adding Transitions to Images

Use their Voice to Narrate the Story

Add Music as a Background to the Narration

Present their personal story to classmates to demonstrate mastering how to create powerful presentations through Photo Story 3.
Pre-Activity Preparation:

Teacher will create a Photo Story 3 model on how presentations have changed in time – from cardboard backboards to PowerPoint presentations to the new technologies that are emerging – Windows MovieMaker and Photo Story 3.

Teacher creates a PowerPoint on copyrights.
-
Teacher will post class objectives on E-Chalk Class Page.
Transition:

Students will log-in to computer workstations and observe class objectives on E-Chalk Class Page.
Hook:
The students will choose their personal story whether a family trip, anecdote, or event that changed his/her life.
Procedure:

First Day:
-
Utilize the SmartBoard, Eike Projector and pointer to present a photo story created by the teacher to introduce the students to Photo Story 3 (see pre-activity preparation). Explain the different elements and how you introduced them.

Allow students to brainstorm for a possible story.

Second Day:
-
Students submit story title to teacher.
-
Teacher shows PowerPoint presentation on copyrights.

Third Day:
-
Students create a storyboard for their project and get approval to proceed.

With Approval:
-
Students scan, upload or search for pictures shown in their storyboard.
-
Students assemble their photo story inserting text and adding transitions.
-
Students add music as a background and use their voice to narrate the story.

When Completed:
-
Students present their photo stories to classmates.
Closure:
Asking questions such as:

What have you learned about powerful presentations?

How are you going to use Photo Story in the future?
