The Lost Chapters of Ben and Me

Directions:

1. You will research an invention that was created by Benjamin Franklin but was not mentioned in the

book, Ben and Me.

2. You will use either use the Internet, multi-media software, books on inventions, or classroom set of

encyclopedias to gather your information. The information that you will need is listed below.

3. Once you have selected and researched an invention, you will write a missing chapter about how

Benjamin Franklin went about making it.

4. Your chapter must be written from the point of view of Amos. That means that you must think like

Amos, write like Amos, and talk like Amos.

5. You should review your copy of Ben and Me to get an idea of how Amos would have described the

invention you selected.

6. Your chapter should use adjectives, analogies, or metaphors to describe how the invention came into

existence. Try to show the reader what happened and not just tell the reader what happened.

7. You must draw a picture of the invention with Amos somewhere in the picture.

8. Tomorrow you will edit and copy your final draft to turn in.

9. Your drawing should be black and white like the other drawings in the book.

10. Use the questions below as a guide to help you collect information and think about the invention.
