Title – valentine candy canes

If you happened to purchase any Christmas candy canes at half price this is a great activity for you! Hot glue gun two candy canes together at the tips. They make a perfectly shaped heart. Then just use your imagination. I usually discuss the phrase “broken hearted” and they free write, but anything like that would be good. You could even discuss the symmetry in Math.

Another great idea would be create a simple Valentine card on construction paper (or posterboard) that would be smaller than the candy cane hearts. Then, glue the candy canes onto the construction paper; creating a candy cane Valentine. You could also have students bring in photos of themselves to place on the construction paper. Then put the candy canes on the construction paper to make a picture frame that could be given to their parents!
