Title - Put your feelings into a "Letter"
By - Beth Shellenbarger
Primary Subject - Art
Secondary Subjects -
Grade Level - K-6

Materials Needed:
  • Large construction paper, any color
  • Pastels
  • Markers
  • Chalk or paint
  • Large Letter Stencils (for lower grades)

Start the lesson by talking to students about how art can be a way to portray your feelings. You could even link this lesson to Da Vinci or Monet, because of how their art changed with their feelings. Trace or sketch the first letter of the students' names (or have them do it). Have the students fill their letters in with colors and/or pictures that portray a happy feeling, a sad feeling, etc. Have the students share their letters with the class and explain their feelings. Then post the pictures for everyone's enjoyment!
