Title – Squares of Hope

By – Erin Murray

Primary Subject – Art

Secondary Subjects – Art

Grade Level – 2-12

Objective: To help students cope with the recent tragedies and allow them to feel like they are contributing to the healing process, have them each design a quilt square centering around the themes of hope, patriotism, etc. Once they draw the design out on paper they could then trace their design to a piece of cloth. Using fabric paint they could then color their designs in.

I have another teacher in my building helping me sew the quilt squares together. I will then have the quilts sent to NYC to show our support as a student body.

  • Lynda Hall 255 days ago - Reply I am a 6th grade teacher and thought I would help my students create quilt with butcher paper, construction paper, and other crafts. All pictures will depict cultural diversity, tolerance, and peace. Thank you for the creative "seed."
