Title - Karo Syrup Art
By - Debbie Haren
Subject - Art
Grade Level - Pre-K - 1
MATERIALS:
light Karo Syrup
pattern or paper for children to make their own picture
containers to put the Karo Syrup in.(styrofoam)
Paint brushes large or small
Newspaper to cover the table with
Art:
Mix a few drops of food coloring in a container with Karo Syrup
Mix well. If you want you can put different colors in different containers just like paint.
Ideas:
Use the Karo paint to paint a pattern such as an egg, Shamrock or sun. For Pre-K and Kindergarten it would be a good idea to use just one color and have them use it on a picture to learn that specific color. Such as painting a Shamrock green for St. Patrick's Day. The Karo paint takes about a day to dry. When it is dry is shiny looking and really pretty. the kids will love it because it is something different to paint with.
Use the Karo Syrup to paint a picture with many different colors then hang up their creations after they are completely dry. This would be great to make a rainbow with. The kids just love it.
MAKE SURE TO USE THE NEWSPAPER BECAUSE IT IS SUPER MESSY IF YOU DON'T!!!!
